Provincial Grand Charity Steward

Worcestershire Carers Association. The Province continues to support with donations from the Lodges and members personal donations, albeit with reduced support due to the present situation with the Corona Virus and the postponement of our meetings. I recently sent a donation to Worcestershire Young Carers on behalf of one of our Lodge’s.

Birmingham Ladies Hospital.  The Province was pleased to support W. Bro Tony Duke with a donation of £500 for the “Little Feet” memorial garden.  This would have been W. Bro Tony’s chosen charity for his annual garden party to raise funds for good causes had it not been for the Corona Virus. This donation was made from the Charity Steward Account, from monies raised by the National Lottery Bonus ball.

East Lancashire Festival 21. The Province was pleased to support with a donation of £1,000.

Food Banks. I can confirm 10 food banks nominated by Lodges in the Province received a donation of £500 each from the Provincial Mark Benevolent Fund in November ’20. These are:

The Royal British Legion. Annual Poppy Appeal received a donation of £1,000 from the Charity Steward Account from monies raised by the National Lottery Bonus Ball.

Church Donations. These are normally announced at the General Purpose Meeting at this time of year, but due to the present circumstances with the Corona Virus they have been deferred.

National Lottery Bonus Ball (Financial Year 2020/21)

Receipts to 31st December ’20 = £2,659

Payments                                  = £0,560

Surplus                                     = £2,099

The account balance at the 31st December 2020 was £4,245 including Lottery Bonus Ball Pre-payments.

West Midlands Special Olympics have made a direct application for a donation from the M. B. F.

I  have (26th January 21) received an application from W. Bro John Fleming in support of his church receiving a donation under our support for churches we consider at this time of the year. This application is supported by John Sutton (Vicar), Parish Administrator, St Mary’s Church, Oldswinford. I wish to support this application, and suggest a donation of £250 be taken from the Provincial Charity Stewards bank account and allocated against proceeds from the National Lottery Bonus Ball fund raising scheme.

I advised the Provincial Grand Master in December of my intentions to retire from my present post for family reasons at the end of my present term in office. I wish to express my sincere thanks to the Provincial Grand Master, R. W. Bro Eric for allowing me the honour and privilege to serve him, the Province and the Brethren for their support in carrying out my duties of this wonderful Province and Mark Master Masonry in general as the Provincial Grand Charity Steward. It has been a very rewarding position to hold.

I also wish to welcome and record my thanks to W. Bro Mark Winfield PPrGJW, GStwd for accepting the appointment from our Provincial Annual Meeting in June ’21. In the meantime we will work together to ensure a smooth handover of these important duties

W.Bro M. J. Gage. PAGDC, RAMGR
