W. Bro. David Stean PProvGMO 1950 – 2020

We are very sorry to have to report that W. Bro. David Stean passed away at 1:40am on Sunday 9th February 2020. Our thoughts are with Janet.

Update: the funeral will be held on Tuesday, 25th February at 2pm in St. James’ Church, Church Street, Harvington, Evesham, WR11 8PB, followed by cremation at The Vale Crematorium, Evesham Road, Fladbury WR10 2QR.

The funeral service will include the committal of David’s body, it will just be a very short service of prayers for him at the Crematorium.

There will be a reception after this but the venue hasn’t yet been confirmed.

David was a well known and well respected Mason in the Province, especially known for the role of Treasurer in several Lodges. He will be sadly missed.

David was Advanced into the St. Egwin Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1135 on 1st February 1993. He was Installed into the Chair in 2004 and again in 2013 with a stint as Treasurer in between. On 3rd February 2020 he was made an honorary member in recognition of his work for the Lodge.

He was a founder member of the Quill & Key Lodge No 1901 in 2009 where he served as Treasurer from 2014 until illness prevented his attendance at meetings.

He joined Worcestershire Installed Masters Lodge No 1409 in 2011 and went on to serve as Treasurer from 2015 until illness prevented his attendance at meetings.

He was Elevated into the St. Egwin Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 1135 in 2003 and was Installed into the Chair of Commander in 2009. After his year as Immediate Past Commander he took the office of Treasurer, which he filled for seven years. On 3rd February 2020 he was made an honorary member.

He joined Worcestershire Installed Commanders Lodge No 1409 in 2011 and became Treasurer in 2017, a role he filled until illness prevented his attendance at meetings.

David’s first appointment to Provincial Office was ProvGStwd in 2006, followed by PProvGSD in 2008. He was appointed ProvRAMGR in 2013, the same year he was appointed ProvGJO. Most recently he was appointed ProvGMO in 2018.
