W.Bro Paul Alan Yarnell PAGDC RAMGR
Assistant Provincial Grand Master Worcestershire MMM & RAM
As we move towards a resumption of Masonic activities, our thoughts turn to returning to face to face Masonic gatherings. For most, this is a most joyous occasion, however, for others, there may still be some trepidation.
We have all endured a very difficult period in our Masonic history, not knowing if, or when we would be able to return to practicing Masonry. Let me reassure you that work is ongoing to ensure that facilities are in place at our Masonic centres to ensure a safe return when permitted.
The return will depend upon the Governments instructions and then, in turn, instructions received from Grand Lodge. As you know, the Government are working towards the date of the 21st June 2021 to ease Lockdown restrictions, fully. This is obviously subject to a reduction in the relevant Covid infection rates and favourable reports being received from Scientists. However, we are still hopeful that September 1st 2021 will prove to be the return date for Masonic activity.
Inoculations have continued at an ever increasing rate and at present, at least 38 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine. This represents around 70%of the adult population and almost 23 million have received their second and the UK continues to be among those with the highest vaccination rates globally.
Our survey has revealed that we received feedback from 69% of our members. Of that number, 88% said they would to return to Masonic activity in September, 2% stated that they would not return, whilst 10% were still undecided. Unfortunately, as the figures show, there were a small number of Lodges who missed the deadline for submission and so, those figures have not been included.
However, the survey has shown that the majority of Members of Worcestershire Mark and Royal Ark Mariners are, in general, looking forward to restarting their Masonry in September. There is no doubt, that there is a lot of work to do once we return, with Lodges undertaking Installations at their first meeting and the Province will continue to support you to ensure a smooth transition back into Masonic activity.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for taking part in the survey and I look forward to seeing you all when we return in September.
Sincerely & Fraternally
