VWBro John King has indicated his wish to step down from the office of Deputy Provincial Grand Master, which the Provincial Grand Master has accepted with sadness. John has been a member of the Provincial Executive for 15 years, having been the Provincial Grand Secretary from 2003 to 2010. He was appointed as the first Assistant Provincial Grand Master in Worcestershire and served from 2013 to 2015, he was promoted to Deputy Provincial Grand Master in 2015, his current rank in the Province. During his time he has attended over 500 meetings and 150 Provincial meetings around the country.
His work on our behalf for the Province has been exemplary and this has been recognised by his appointments to PAGDC in 2004, RAMGR in 2005, PGJO in 2009 and PGMO in 2016. He has also been award the Provincial Grand Master’s Certificate of Merit.
John has been a great servant to the Province and we all wish him good health to enjoy his retirement.
John’s departure leaves a gap to fill. WBro Jeff Whitely, Assistant Provincial Grand Master will be promoted to Deputy in his stead. Jeff needs little introduction to the members of the Province, having been on the circuit since 2006 when he was appointed AProvGDC, swiftly followed by promotion to DepProvGDC in 2007 and then promotion to ProvGDC 2009, a role he filled for six years until he was promoted to AsstPGM in 2015. He was appointed to the prestigious rank of Grand Steward in 2011 and promoted to PGSD in 2015. He was promoted to RAMGR in 2013.
Jeff’s promotion leaves another gap to fill. WBro Paul Yarnell of Bromsgrove Lodge MMM No 1334 will be appointed AsstPGM. Paul likewise needs little introduction to the Province having already spent several years on the circuit. He was appointed AProvGDC in 2008 and filled the role for three years until he was promoted to ProvGSwdB in 2008, then ProvGSO in 2010 and ProvGJW in 2015. He received RAMGR in 2017 and PAGDC in 2018.
We wish Jeff and Paul every success in their new roles.
