Bright warm sunshine welcomes a good turnout of members and guests of The Fairways Lodge at Kings Norton Golf club on Thursday 19th April for the annual competition for the Francis Charles Spencer Trophy.
With many not having been able to maintain their regular game due to the excessively wet winter scoring was a little down on previous years. Bro J J Pritchard from Royal Hearsall Golf Club Coventry managed the course conditions best to run out a worthy winner with 33 points.
W Bro Mike Gregory playing his last game as a guest returned the best Visitors card whilst Ian Belsham and Paul Hayward shared the spoils for the longest drive and nearest the pin.
The next fixture and meeting of the lodge will take place at Royal Hearsal Golf Club followed by a regular meeting for an Advancement at Coventry Masonic Centre on the 12th July 2018.
At 5.30pm the golfers were joined by a large number of distinguished guests for the installation of a new Master when W Bro David Smith Installed W Bro William Davies into the chair.
Following the opening of the lodge the Presiding Officer, W Bro Jeffrey Whiteley, PGSD Assistant Provincial Grand Master, was admitted on a report and saluted, to which he suitably replied.

All of whom responded in usual masonic manner.
Following his Installation, the new Worshipful Master appointed and invested his officers.
A deputation of five brothers from the All Saints Kings Heath Lodge of MMM, consisting of W Bro Kenneth Downes, Worshipful Master, V W Bro Eric Bourne, W Bro John Stevens, W Bro Terrence Woolley andW Bro Bill Sherlock, then presented the Provincial Traveling PIG, the symbol of inter visiting between Mark Lodges, together with the accompanying documents.
During the meeting and at the festive board thanks were expressed to W Bro Mel Broadhurst for his service as Secretary during the initial setting up of the lodge and the five years since. Also thanked was W Bro Mike Gage who has collected our dues and placed them in a safe depository throughout the first five years of the lodge. A little present of appreciation was made to both.
There followed a splendid festive board for which the golf club caterers are to be commended.
